Defendants who are detained pending a federal criminal trial in Northern Kentucky are typically housed at the Campbell County Detention Center, which is the jail closest to the federal courthouse in Covington.  The Campbell County Detention Center recently added a new wing to its building at a cost of just over $7.5 million.  The expanded facilities include an additional 107 jail beds and 36 isolation beds.  The new area has been laid out to accommodate much-needed substance abuse programming for female inmates.
