ASWD Feeds the Hungry
Adams, Stepner, Woltermann & Dusing again participated in the Legal Food Frenzy, the Kentucky Bar Association’s annual food drive competition to support the members of the Kentucky Association of Food Banks. The campaign was sponsored by the KBA’s Young Lawyer’s Division.
Over 700,000 Kentuckians, including more than 200,000 children, struggle with hunger. Yet only 1 in 13 school-aged children who receive free and reduced-price lunch during the school year have access to such meals during the summer months. The Legal Food Frenzy is timed to provide a much-needed supply of resources to Kentucky’s food bank network to meet increased demand during the summer months, when schools are closed.
ASWD Partner Lee Metzger, the Sixth District Representative for the Young Lawyers Division, said the goal of the campaign was to raise the equivalent of 800,000 pounds of food. “Our firm has always taken great pride in investing in our community, so we were excited about the opportunity to join the bar association and the Kentucky Association of Food Banks in the mutual quest to eliminate hunger in our state,” Metzger said. “We are thrilled that we were able to raise the equivalent of more than 8,000 pounds of food this year to donate to the campaign. Our contribution should help ensure that no child in Kentucky ever goes hungry.”
