Adams Stepner attorneys receive favorable decision in inmate assault case from US District Court
On November 4, 2014, Jeffrey C. Mando and Claire E. Parsons of the Firm’s Civil Litigation and Government Practice Groups secured summary judgment from the Eastern District of Kentucky in the case David Hacker v. Lincoln County Detention Center, et al., 11-CV-398. The Plaintiff in that action had asserted that jail staff at the Lincoln County Detention Center were deliberately indifferent to the risk that he would be assaulted by a fellow inmate. In granting summary judgment for the Defendants, Judge William O. Bertelsman found that the Defendants had convincingly argued that no evidence of deliberate indifference had been shown and, further, that no proof had been presented which indicated the existence of any unlawful policies at the Lincoln County Detention Center.
