Adams Stepner Attorney Olivia Amlung Publishes Article on Persistent Felony Offender Laws

This month’s edition of the Northern Kentucky Bar Association’s publication, the Lex Loci, includes an article written by Adams Stepner Attorney Olivia Amlung. The article aims to explain Kentucky’s criminal Persistent Felony Offender laws in a way that is easy to understand. In Kentucky, individuals who are charged and convicted of two or more felony offenses within a five year period are called “Persistent Felony Offenders.” This designation exposes these defendants to much harsher sentences because of their criminal history. Ms. Amlung’s article thoroughly explains the calculation method for these harsher sentences, as well as sheds light on some unintended consequences these laws may have.
